What is Your Personal Vision?

by Ashley Bolivar on December 3, 2009

Do you have a personal Vision?  Do you have a compelling and strong enough reason to get out of bed every single and drive yourself consistently towards a clear vision of what the payoff will be?

If not, chances are you may be lost in a cycle of idleness.  Idleness can occur when your life lacks any real forward progress or accomplishment and before you know it a level of stagnant energy begins to build up.  This stagnant energy buildup will eventually create lack in being persistent, emptiness and sluggishness in every area of your life.

The thing is this; you do not need mile high goals to avoid this sense of stillness and lack.  You do however, need to be disciplined and focused on progress and movement rather than staying stuck in one place.

Creating a personal vision can and should motivate you to climb out of the murky rut of mediocrity and blast this “idleness” out of your life once and for all.

In order to create and manifest a personal vision that will push you towards success, first remember that everything we do in life has a payoff – both good and bad.  Even the bad habits people have like drinking, smoking and overeating (Strawberry ice cream anyone?) provides some kind of payoff, or fills a void that people are searching for. Otherwise people wouldn’t keep doing them.

Here’s a great example of a positive payoff received from a negative situation: I was engaged to be married at one point. In my heart,  I always knew that there was something wrong in that relationship, we ended up having a child. Not too long after my sons first birthday, I came to find that my fiancé was playing in someone else’s yard.

From this experience in my life I gained two incredible payoffs. First the obvious, I now have an incredible and loving nine year old son who drives me to be a better father every day. The second payoff came years later once I gained consciousness from the emotional blast that had exploded in my life.

It was because of this experience that I decided to take my personal growth work to a whole new level in an effort to gain a better understanding of “me” and what I needed to do in order to create the relationships around me that I wanted, specifically with the woman of my dreams who I am now married to.

Maybe you are in the midst of some financial hardship, the payoff there may be that you don’t have the funds to start that home based business you’ve always dreamed of. Now you don’t have to face your fear of failure or success.  This may seem odd or a bit negative, but on some level it’s working for you so why change it.

Are there other situations that keep you trapped and settle for where you are in life?  Write them out and read them carefully.  Then ask yourself; “Are you willing to continue to settle for idleness in your life or if you are finally willing to form a personal vision that will have you explode out of the rut that you’re in.

Remember that you cannot stay motivated to change anything in your life until you have a strong enough reason to do so.  Your vision has to be a reason so compelling and empowering that you will do anything to achieve it. Once you do, it just a matter of “choice” to implement into action the steps necessary to get you there.

Keep your vision in plain sight every day so your mind will work towards its obtainment.  Read it to yourself several time a day and vow to keep moving toward it no matter what.

It's true that the mind is an extraordinary thing and that we are, in fact, motivated (I might even say "driven") to accomplish whatever it is that we spend our time thinking about. Therefore, I agree, it is of paramount importance to have a positive vision to carry in our mind at all times. Not only will this make our conscious decision-making much easier, but it will keep our sub-conscious mind focused on helping us to achieve our positive goals as well!
