Are You Afraid Of Commitment?

by Ashley Bolivar on January 28, 2010

I hope that yesterday post left you taking a good hard look at yourself and that you have come to a decision. You have either decided to hold yourself accountable to building a successful network marketing business AND you set some daily objectives that you MUST complete otherwise you must face the consequences.

On the other hand, if you found that you are already on the right track in making an honest assessment of “YOU”, then what else can you be doing today to create and even more successful network marketing business?

One thing that I do every day is constantly ask myself questions. Not just any kind of questions – thought provoking questions – such as;

“How can I become a better leader to others?”

“How can I impact more people in a positive way?”

“How can I improve on…?”

“How can I become the…?”

What I have found in asking myself questions throughout the day – I not only hold myself accountable – I constantly am coming up with ideas for new projects, ways to support my team, ways to inspire others and more importantly, ways to be a better family man.

In the book of Mathew, chapter 7, verse 7 it reads “Ask and it will be given to you.” What you need to remember is that it’s not just in asking, but in asking INTELLIGENT questions to find the answers that you need.

Lets move on to the second essential piece and maybe you can relate to this. Have you ever sponsored someone who had a burning desire at succeeding in network marketing? They would say all the right things, even start taking the right action steps, you were certain that they would be your next super star.

When all of the sudden –“poof”- like a magician performing a disappearing act, they were gone. No trace of what happened or what drove them away. The only trace of their existence was some virtual dust that they left behind.

You’re left scratching your head asking yourself, “What happened”?

Like a nasty breakup you’re left guessing what you could have done different, what was it that had them pull their flag out of the ground, retreating in to the night.

“Was it something I did?”

Can you relate to this?

First, YOU did nothing wrong. As long as you are honestly supporting your team, giving them all the tools and training that they need to create a successful network marketing business, then you did everything YOU could have.

The issue was one thing.

“COMMITMENT”

A person in this business MUST make a real 100% commitment to build a successful network marketing business.

There is no “Just going to try it out for a few months” or “Just want to check it out and see how it works”.

Back when the Vikings would go off to invade and take over a new territory they would arrive, unload all their belonging, cargo and anything else they would need. Once they did this they would burn there ships to avoid even the thought of retreat to cross through their minds.

They understood the power of the mind and if they gave themselves any other option – a plan “B” – and things got bad for them – in that moment of weakness – they could run.

With the ships burned and gone, this allowed them to focus as a group on one purpose “Kicking some major butt”.

So ask yourself this question;

“Have I burned my ships?”

“Have I made 100% commitment in building a successful network marketing business?”

“Am I committed and focused to my success?”

You absolutely MUST treat your business as a business and not a hobby committing yourself to building a success network marketing business.

Commitment is certainly every bit as important as you have said here, and even more.
But, I believe that the question is not whether we fear it, or whether we have it.
Rather, precisely because it is do crucially important, the question is: How do we cultivate it? How do we nurture it? What are the obstacles that can stand in the way?
