So, are you the next American Idol?
I have a confession to make. My wife loves American Idol and as the good supportive husband that I am, I torture myself and watch it with her.
Alright, so the confession is that I actually enjoy parts of it. However, could you imagine sitting there as one of the Judges?
I honestly don’t think I could handle sitting there all day long listening to so many bad singers. Now, I know that I have a voice for the shower or when I’m home alone and that’s it. But to be so blatantly bad and thinking that your the next big thing… Comon’ man… that is just crazy.
One thing that the judges have in common with you and me is that they absolutely must be good talent scouts.
That’s not too far off from what we need to be on a daily basis in order to build a successful network marketing business – good talent scouts.
In order to be a successful network marketer, you have to be able to spot talented network marketers and talented people that would be right for this business. Unfortunately unlike any major sports team, or job interview that you’ve been on, there is no scouting report, and there is no resume that someone submits to you.
It all comes down to your personal ability to see through the murky fog and decide if the person is talented enough to be in your organization. Once you understand the basic principle of sponsoring up, your network marketing business becomes that much easier grow.
In case your not familiar with the phrase “sponsoring up”, basically it’s your willingness to meet and sponsor people who in your eyes appear to be just a cut above from where you are at in your business, or who have created some kind of success either with another network marketing company or in another industry.
Do you think that American Idol would be wildly successful if all they showed were the people who could not sing?
Better yet, do you think any of the people who have no singing ability would ever top the charts and win all kinds of awards?
Absolutely not.
As ruthless as this may sound you need to be more like Simon Cowell. I don’t me become an arrogant, mean and downright nasty person. I am saying that you need to develop a keen sense of spotting talent, talent is all around you and for some reason, people feel that the best talent is in every other town, city or state but theirs.
All you have to do is look, listen and allow yourself to feel for talented people that would benefit from being a part of this incredible industry and who you feel would be a tremendous asset in building a massively successful network marketing business. All you need to do is identify good prospects and move them through your system or move on.
Now if you don’t mind I have a date with my wife, our DVR and Simon Cowell.

Hey Ashley,
Nice writing and an excellent theme. Some blog post I read must be in secret code because they make no sense to me. Not so with yours and I am in complete accord with you.
I might suggest that those having difficulty "sponsoring up" do a little soul searching to determine why someone on a step or two above them is such an intimidation.
What I have found is that people tend to hesitate in "sponsoring up" because they are living in fear from something. That fear is usually from rejection or being looked upon as being "less than". The real sadness is that many people that a person shy's away from is looking for some kind of answer to escape the rat race of life.
I know that I have a voice for the shower or when I’m home alone and that’s it. But to be so blatantly bad and thinking that your the next big thing. That was a great idea. Thank you.
I would do that job in a heart beat, sit around and weed out the bad talent, it’s not that hard as long as you are honest and listen to music. Plus the Judges get paid, try comparing that job to the roof whos hammering nails in 110 degree weather all day for $9 an hour.

I like American Idol, but I feel like the show doesn’t completely know talent when they see it. The industry is so political. I mean, look at Jennifer Hudson. She got kicked off of the show and now she’s HUGE! She looks great, sings amazingly, and beautiful. Has anyone caught the new series, “The Voice”?
I would love to be one of the judges. Not necessarily because I have proper judgement in singing talent, but just to be entertained by some of the auditionees. I have to say that I get goosebumps in my livingroom when listening to some of the contestants.
My fiancee also watch American Idol and she really watch all those series until the proclamation of the winner. She finds is entertaining that she won’t miss it every day.
I’m unfamiliar with “sponsoring up” but it is something that I think I need to apply to my business life. I tend to end up with networking with people who are at my same level or not quite doing as well as I am and I think that is because I like helping people. I know there is nothing wrong with this but since I am not at the successful point I would like to be at yet I think I need to find more people to ‘sponsor up’ with in order to move to the next level.
