Is it someone who is “Johnny or Jane on the spot”?
Someone who always has an answer to everyone’s questions or concerns?
Is it a person always gets the job done regardless of what they have to do?
I’m sure that many of these attributes and qualities hold some truth but it’s much more than any of those things.
I believe that being a great leader is not about ability, it’s about responsibility. A leader is someone who is not just responsible for making good decisions but being responsible for the bad ones as well. I believe that any person who has become a great leader has had to taste the bitterness of loss first.
Think about any great leader of this world from any arena – political, business, sports, religion – Any leader who has left a mark on this world has had to be responsible for the good and the bad. They have had to loose in order to win.
It could have been as simple as losing a game but being entrusted consistently be the go to person when the game is on the line like Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, Bode Miller, and Danica Patrick.
It could have been as extreme as losing their lives for their personal morals and values that they believed in like Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, or every single Fire Fighter and First Responder who flung themselves in to the twin towers on 9-11.
How about you?
What kind of leader are you on a daily basis?
See being a leader isn’t just about the fame that is heard around the world. Being a good leader is what you do on a daily basis as a Father, Mother, Sister, and Brother. As an employee and as a small business owner.
Everyday that you wake up you have a responsibility to everyone around you to lead your life in a way that will impact the world to be a better place. The challenging part for most people is the responsibility. It holds people back in a state of indecision for fear that they may make a mistake.
Don’t allow the fear to grip you and hold you back from becoming the leader that people need. If you choose to let your strength of being a leader fade away then who will step up to the plate in your place?
“Become the kind of leader that people would follow voluntarily, even if you had no title or position.”
-Brian Tracy

Great Post Ashley,
A leader is someone who tells people what to do, but rather inspires them to want to do what they have to do. A leader is someone who does exactly what they want others to do who are following them.
You've really nailed some key points here Ashley.
Nice Ashley,
You dont become a leader by telling someone what to do, but by inspiring them to want to do what is right. A leader is someone who does exactly what they want others to do who are following them.
Thanks Ashley.
Thank you for this article! It’s so true, inspiring people to act in certain ways is much more challenging and effective than bossing people around. Great leaders create followers, not prisoners. Do you have any other articles about related information?
That says a lot…thanks for sharing…
