You have to know some important differences first.

Sales Vs Marketing

Prospects have become more guarded than they ever were. There are so many opportunities out there that it is difficult for them to decide what they really want, or if they even want it.

Even if someone is contemplating on a network marketing business, you can’t always expect to sway them towards your company simply because there are so many different choices out in the market place. With more options, more people pushing their business opportunity, the more noise they hear and the harder it is for them to move forward.

Network marketing is one of the most lucrative opportunities out there and still remains one of the biggest draws for you to bring people towards your business on a daily basis. The results that can be expected can be so huge in monetary terms that they could put most companies to shame.

The emphasis of ‘marketing’ in ‘network marketing’ is still quite profound. Despite whatever you might have heard about networking being the most important thing here, you must know that you are, after all, ‘marketing’.

This is an important thing for you to consider. In fact, when you are attracting prospects to your business, make sure that you are attracting people who know how to market, or at the very least understand that they will learning how to market and taking action. Networking is fine enough, but what use is it if you can get your octogenarian grandmother into your network, which cannot market anything for you and only signed up out of pity?

The days of pumping network with people who cannot market – read family and friends – should be over by now. Today’s network marketing businesses know that it is extremely important to have people in the team who can bring about the all-important ‘sales’.

Though this premise is slightly different, network marketing is most assuredly a sales concept. You have to sell things for money, not just share them.

In the 21st century, the difference between sharing and selling has become much more profound, especially over the Internet. People are more willing to buy from you when they don’t feel like they are being sold. People are looking for solutions on THEIR terms, not yours. If you are still out there trying to sell everyone on the idea that your business, products or services are “the best”, then stop.

Bring value to your prospects and clients. If you have a “system” for your business that they can plug in to as a distributor, explain to them the benefits of the system and why it will work for them. If you don’t have a system that a person can step right in to and duplicate your efforts in a very short period of time, then you need to either create one of find one to plug right in to that has been tested and proven.

In all your marketing efforts you need to remember that your prospective client and distributor only care about one thing.

“What’s in it for me?”

If you can answer that one question in their mind, then your one step closer to adding on a new distributor or client.
