Is your MLM company built on management experience and integrity? Part III

Alright, so enough “doom and gloom”. This business has the potential to afford you a life that you could only have dreamed of. So let me give you the tools that you in choosing a network marketing business.

That is why your here right? To own your life and have your very own “successful” mlm or network marketing business and I’m here to give you the mlm training that you need in order to build a business that will continue to thrive for years to come.

So how can you insulate yourself and prevent anything from happening like I described in my previous posts?

Let’s first look at company management and their experience first. Imagine a group of Attorney’s who all come together and get the idea that they want to start their own network marketing business.

None of them have ever done any kind of network marketing, let alone built an mlm downline before. The only experience that one of them has is the she once went to an Amway business opportunity meeting.

Do you have that image?

So what do you think their distributors contract is going to look like? I won’t even get into products, customer service, back-end support or anything else. Just the contract that the distributors have to sign.

Who do you think it will benefit?

mlm confusion

Them of course.

But, what if they have experience. How can you tell if they have built it the right way in the past?

Have they done it with integrity?

Can you be certain that they have not left a wake of destruction behind them as they have moved from company to company?

Let me give you some real simple and easy steps to follow in order to make sure that both of these areas are met in a way to protect you:

  1. First search Google for the owner(s) of the company. Make sure that you dig down a few pages to make sure you find as much out about them.
  2. Next take their name and put it into the search engine and add the word ‘scam’ next to it. See what comes up. Again, look deep into the pages for more information.
  3. Find out what kind of background they have. You want to find if they have ever built a network marketing company from scratch.
  4. If it’s a publicly traded company any and all decisions will be made in favor of the Stockholders at the Distributes expense (that’s you).

This is where you want to start. Your next step is to review a copy or the companies “Policies and Procedures” and “Terms and Conditions”. Both make up your legal contract with the company.

At the end of the day, the courts will not allow for the excuse of “I did not know” or ” I was never told”. It is your job to do your due diligence before something happens.

MLM policies

Why is this important?

Well, this is the glue. This is what will inevitably allow you to control your own destiny. I don’t care how great of a system you have, how great your product or service is.

It will not matter at all if this part is not set up to create a “win-win” for every one involved.

So, what are you looking for in your “Policies and Procedures” and “Terms and Conditions”?

  • You are looking for a few key words and verbiage:You are looking for the word “ongoing”, “ongoing production”,  “personal ongoing production” or any variation of the term.

Basically what that means is if you decide one day that you have built your business big enough.

You then get ready to retire and enjoy the rest of your life traveling, enjoying the finest foods, seeing all the sites of the world and spending time with your family and friends. Well you can do it ONLY if you continue to grow your business.

Huh?

I thought the idea behind network marketing was to build an organization once, build it big and build it so it pays you through retirement and then you can be passed on to your children and their children?

I have seen people in this industry have it all ripped away from them just because of those few little words in their contact.

  • Look for policies in your contract that strike you as being “unreasonable”. For example, “Termination with or Without cause”.

This is pretty much a green light for the company to let you go just because they want to. Most of the time when this happens, the company is struggling financially and they decide that they need to take hold of the income that you have built up.

If you have retired and all of the sudden your checks stop coming, how on earth do you plan on living. This just happened at one particular company last week that left a wake of destruction behind them.

Lives were shattered, dreams decimated. All because the company was in a financial hole that they needed to get out from.

Who paid the price?

The distributors, all because of how the contract was written.

All you have to do is ask yourself one question as you read through your contract.

“Does the contract protect me or the company?”

It should be written in a way to create a “win-win” environment for everyone. If you find that it leans in their favor far more than it does yours, I caution you to really think long and hard about it.

Just a few other items to look for.

  1. Does the company charge you for training or a company website?
  2. Do they charge you to send you your paycheck?
  3. Do they “require” you to “buy” leads and from a certain vendor?

MLM warning signs

These are all additional warning signs. One last thing which serves as a good rule of thumb.

The larger the companies contract is for it’s distributors the more chance that it is set up to protect the company and only have the companies best interest at heart.

Let me also give you three additional site to look at to find out addition information about your network marketing company or any mlm company.

  1. Rip Off Report
  2. MLM Watchdog
  3. Market Wave

I am sure that you will find that in just following the simple steps listed above. You will find more than enough companies that are out there which are great companies be a part of. You just need to make sure that you are doing your homework first.

In my next post I will cover compensation plans versus scams. This one is a real eye opener. So be ready.
